Komali Pozole is one of the most iconic dishes in Mexican cuisine. Made with hominy, tender pork, and a flavorful broth, this comforting soup is served hot and finished with fresh toppings so everyone can customize their bowl.
Ingredients
Serves: 4–6
- Precooked hominy
- Pork (shoulder or leg)
- White onion
- Garlic
- Bay leaf
- Salt
- Dried oregano
- Shredded lettuce or cabbage
- Radishes, sliced
- Chopped white onion
- Lime
- Chili powder or hot sauce (optional)
- Komali corn tortillas
Instructions
- Place the pork in a large pot with water, onion, garlic, bay leaf, and salt. Cook until the meat is tender.
- Add the hominy and simmer until the kernels are fully opened and the broth is well seasoned.
- Remove the onion and bay leaf. Adjust seasoning if needed.
- Serve the pozole hot and garnish with lettuce, radishes, onion, oregano, and lime to taste.
- Serve with Komali corn tortillas.
